Jessica Pereira, School and Community Volunteer Coordinator

Welcome to Ruth Chaffee School.  During the year there are many opportunities to volunteer at our school.  Whether it is in the classroom or at a special event, your help is always welcome.

Involvement could include working in the media center, at the book fair, on activities for the classroom or any of the various special activities that occur throughout the year.  If you like to cook, several times a year there are requests for baked goods to be provided at an event.  Parents are an integral part of Ruth Chaffee and your help is always appreciated.

As a school and community coordinator I am also responsible for notifying our local newspapers of the activities that our students are involved with here at Ruth Chaffee.  It could be classroom events, special activities that occur during Disabilities Week, Red Ribbon Week, Earth Day, concerts, assemblies, or hosting special guests.  It is my goal to showcase to the community the wide variety of educational and special projects our students are involved with throughout the year.

Working with the principal, teachers, and parents, it is my goal to help provide a family-friendly school climate that welcomes parents to get involved.  At the beginning of each school year a volunteer sign-up form is sent home to be filled out and returned.  I call upon these forms as requests are received for parent involvement.  If you need to contact me, I can be reached at (860) 833-4080 . I look forward to meeting and working with you throughout the school year.
