Art - Miss Courtney Molter - Ext. 206
All classes from kindergarten through fourth grade meet once a week in the art room for 45 minutes. The Art program is designed to promote visual literacy and creativity, and to develop problem-solving skills. Art lessons and activities are integrated with other curricular areas to broaden the scope of learning and to provide opportunities for personal expression. The Art program accommodates a variety of learning styles and developmental levels. Experiences are provided that build self-esteem and develop art appreciation. Mutual respect is stressed as students learn to appreciate each other's varied styles and techniques. Students of all grade levels benefit from participation in school wide projects and town wide art shows. Library Media - Ms. Kate Tibbitts - Ext. 105

The media specialist introduces new learning technologies, supports the curriculum in a variety of ways, and teaches information skills. Music - Mr. Marc Balling - Ext. 212
At the elementary level students have a variety of choices for performance opportunities. Fourth graders can elect to play a band or orchestra instrument in small group lessons that meet weekly for 25-30 minutes. They participate in larger ensembles called “Band” and “String Orchestra”. These larger groups meet once per week during recess for rehearsals. The rehearsals prepare them for a chance to perform in the annual Spring Concert.
Fourth graders can also elect to join the fourth grade chorus. This large ensemble meets once per week during recess, and prepares students to perform the annual Winter Concert and Spring Concert. Many students choose to participate in both an instrumental ensemble and the chorus.
All students in the school attend weekly general music classes. Grades 1-4 meet for 40- minute sessions, while grade K meets for 30-minute sessions. Students learn singing skills as well as rhythms, listening skills, music terminology and the music of many cultures around the world. Classes are highly participatory and hands-on, enabling all students to experience and appreciate many music genres.
